The concept of linking the last two checkers here with bar/16 is wrong and results in more likelyhood of getting pounded and we don't really gain that much to make the 16 pt anyhow here again noting our race lead.

I've started to get this more lately... in the past, I would have played b/16 for exactly the reason of connectivity. My play here is b/22 20/14.
