Regardless of what a fair settlement may or may not be, the guy agreed to a deal and then reneged on it. Had he been unsure he should have talked to some 'experts' prior to agreeing to the initial deal. I'd be pissed, I'd call him out publicly, and he'd be lucky if it ended there. Face it, the guy is a jerk.

Had the shoe been on the other foot, would you have sent him a check for $250? There, you have your answer.
