This suggestion has merit. The problem is that director is usually busy with the other details of the tournament. At a big tournament it would take an extra person (and thus more 'salary' budget) to do this.

However, as tournaments move towards more computer usage, I could imagine scoring being done with a computer (with a projector showing the bracket on the wall). Then a printer could automatically print out two scoresheets as soon as both players for that match are determined. They could even be sorted into 26 bins (by first letter of player's last name, like is done at the pharmacy) so they can easily be found by the combatants.

This may not be doable today, but maybe soon.
