In Response To: Nactation after the initial moves (Andreas)

Thanks to all and especially to Nack for his extensive workout !

Not so long ago lots of people did not recognize the importance of the opening rollouts with the argument that the equity differences are "neglible" and it would be best just to play a way which leads to positions were one feels "comfortable".

Meanwhile many have recognized that it is an advantage to become "comfortable" in positions which result from the right moves.

Recognizing the importance of the opening moves led necessarily to the development of nactation, because it lets tabellize lots of info in a extremely small space. (A single Pokercard is enough space to visualize with some logic operators all hundreds of opening replies.) 2nd and 3rd moves can be discussed without need of any image of the position.

As in the case of the opening moves there was in the beginning skepsis - and it changed steadily!

Like lots of other players I had in the past worked hours and hours through Stick's phantastic opening pages and developed some own kind of "nactation" (2 characters, variations with greek letters) before the tutorials were available but meanwhile I changed my files with Ockhams razor to the single character real "nactation".

I understand that the most important activity here is the analysis of the fírst moves, their description with nactation and the refining with the new tool, which combines nactations and equity differences.

While for a entire match records a combination of nactation, numbers, usual move description seems appropriate at moment nevertheless it makes sense to use the present level of nactation as far as possible.

(I agree that the establishing of a "problem" with nactation should be restricted on difficulties with reasonable moves.)

I could imagine that in future beside the opening also other reference positions could be worked out in a similar way as the opening positions at moment. In this case the recognizing/memorizing of the right moves could be done with the same symbols.

Can we imagine that we in in future speak about a position "X2SD3" which everybody "sees immediately" and discuss whether we would "reverzze", split, lift etc and why?
