2 ply can quite often show you as too good when opponent has some off.

I've found, actually, in such situations (where the 3-ply evaluation is much better than 2-ply) that while 3-ply may correct an erroneous no double 'too good' equity with fewer trials, 2-ply will still obtain a good result -- with more trials, perhaps, but faster.
