lift or stay?

Obviously, the 6 comes out. And even though slotting looked very wrong last turn (because only 4 numbers covered the prime), leaving the blot slotted now feels right, as there are so many more numbers to cover and the cube can be used so effectively when White misses.

That leaves three choices for the ace: (a) 17/16, (b) 9/8 and (c) 8/7. These moves threaten to cover the six-prime with 17, 14 and 17 numbers, respectively.

Play (c) has the advantage that any non-covering 6 or 5 can hit loose on the front of a solid five-prime. On the other hand, (a) gets more return shots on average when hit. Tough call, but I'll elimiate (c) in direct comparison with (a).

Play (b) gives the most "efficient" distribution (with 62 52 22 making a five-prime and hitting), and it avoids the 54 33 duplication left by the (a) play. Is that enough to overcome the 3 extra non-cover numbers? I don't know but I'll guess not.

In short, it seems to me that any of (a), (b) or (c) might be best, but I'll pick (a).

Nack
