'Is this possibly correct? If Denver attempts this, should Philly's runners take a knee and not score?'

Not sure if you wanted an answer from Chuck only, but the answers are a clear yes, and yes. An astute running back downed himself on the half-yard line in a similar situation earlier this year. I think it was Jones-Drew, though not sure. In a college game a few weeks ago, an astute coach had his team play matador defense in a similar situation.
