I would have thought that a bit of redundance makes the record more legible and may save some trouble if there is a glitch in the record.

You're right, I don't mean to imply that a minimalistic approach should always be taken, just that the design of my notation is to be minimalistic, and then to be more verbose in any situation where you think that there is a chance for confusion. An example of such plays are infield shuffling double aces... those I just write out in full.
