Neil, you have 2-ply/2-ply playing 0-ply/0-ply. I've never been sure what to make of that competition, with respect to how well it reflects human players. The reason is that 0-ply checker play although obviously not as good as 2-ply is still expert play, while 0-ply cube, although perhaps still expert play is clearly much worse than 2-ply. In other words, my feeling is that with 0-ply/0-ply you're getting a near world-class checker player with an unpredictable cubist.

While you move on to more interesting things, I'll run this play through gnubg with both sides 2-ply except with White using 0-ply cube. And for extra thrills I'll hypothesize that the 0-ply cube accounts for most of the 0.052 advantage 13/11 6/5 has over 24/21 in your rollout.
