Zeus Question: value of time-outs

All the time I see football teams 'waste' a time-out instead of letting the QB incur a delay of game penalty. Can the 5 yards saved really be worth more than the lost time-out?

I guess as a test case you might try this: 1st and 10 on the 50 yard line, tie score, 5 minutes into the 3rd period, all time-outs left. Is your GWC better with 2 time-outs and still on the 50, or on your own 45 with 3 time-outs?

I assume the value of the 5 yards changes based on field position, but I'm not sure of the exact effect of that. The value might increase the closer you are AND the further you are away from the 50.

Do time-outs increase in 'value' the closer you are to the end of the half or the game, or is the score more the determining factor?
