I would have the players blind bid for the right to a bye.

I would make the finals 13 points and the semis 11 points.

Each player writes down how many points he is willing to spot his opponents in the final, 13 point match, in order to not have to play in the semis. The one who writes down the highest number gets the bye, but he has to spot his opponent that many points. (If two players have the same number, all three players blind bid again until there is only one with the highest number.)

By the way, the player who comes in second gets the same amount of money and points as the player who comes in third.
