Playoff with three finalists

There are innumerable ways that both the money and the chances of winning the tournament can be fairly distributed amongst three players. I think it is a much better way than giving first round byes.
Example:
Two players play the semifinal round. Which two can be either by random draw or by mutual consent. Nine point match. The loser of the first round plays the bye-player, but starts the match down 3-0. If the loser of the first match wins that match, he comes in second, the winner of the first match is the tournament winner, and the loser of the second match is 3rd place. If the bye-player wins the 2nd match he plays the winner of the first match for the title and the loser of match one and two is third. The length of the final match can be determined by the director based on the time available, with an acceptable range predetermined, such as 7 to 13 points.
The chances of each player finishing in 1st, 2nd, and third, based on MEC26:
The two first round players: 1st .3345, 2nd .3355, 3rd .331
The bye-player: 1st .331, 2nd .331, 3rd .338
