1st Dubrovnik Backgammon Open

Well, as you can see on CJC's "Mark Your Backgammon" page on Chicago Point, 1st Dubrovnik Backgammon Open is scheduled for May 15-16 this year in Dubrovnik, Croatia. More info will be available soon here: backgammon-dubrovnik.com Anyone who is interested can just mail me on: mradica@gmail.com and I will send him tournament flyer in pdf format.

Anyway, this year it will be low entry fee tournament, with entry fee about ~40 euro. Format will be hybrid with swiss (five rounds) in first part and KO (with progressive consolation) in second part. Best 16 players from swiss part will go in KO main tournament and the rest will go in consolation. Consolation will be progressive until semis of main. Match lenght in swiss will be 7 pointers, in KO main 9pts (11pts finale) and consolation 7pts (7pts finale). So, everyone will play at least six matches.

We expect about 40 players from Croatia and Bosnia&Herzegovina, although there will be players from Slovenia and Macedonia. It is rather still early but I hope there will be some players from Austria and Italy possibly.

Weather in Dubrovnik, in the middle of the May, usually is very nice, not to warm with swimming possible, so if someone like to spend one weekend at Adriatic coast to play some backgammon, it could be fine choice, IMHO.
