In Response To: Naccel 2 -- post #5 (Nack Ballard)

I would like to echo Matt Ryder’s comments in another post about how good these tutorials are and to thank Nack for continuing to take the trouble to explain Naccel and share his insights with us. There is a mixture of pleasure and frustration with this enterprise -pleasure at seeing all the techniques available and discovering more all the time and then the frustration of seeing just how much easier Nack does it than you do!(Well me at least).

Match to 7, Tied at 0-0
Blue on roll. Cube action?
White103

Blue132
Position Id: Nc4bBgBs1oUBAw
Match Id: cAngAAAAAAAA

For the position above the approach I adopted was

Blue

There is a mirror with the checkers on blue’s 4 point and White’s five point – this counts 4

There is a pair on blue's n-3 for a count of -1

Bringing the top checker forward from the n2 to n1 creates a six-sym for 1 (1)

The two checkers on blues 13 point can be moved to the 12 point for a count of 2(2)

This gives a total so far of 6 (3)

Finally the checker on n3 gets moved n0 for 3 pips

This gives a total of 7

White

Two pips brought forward from white's 8 point to 7 creates a six sym for 2 (2)

There is a pair on white n-3 for -1

Two on the white 13 point goes down to the 12 point for 2 (2)

This gives a total so far of 3 (4) and then there are nine pips to move backwards from the n-5 and n-4 points which is equivalent to 1 (3).

3 (4) less 1 (3) gives a total of 2 (1)

Blue leads by almost a count of 5

Regards

Jim
