In order to answer several questions (and for my own education) I ran a deep analyze of the influence of the Search Interval on the accuracy of the analysis results.
The article showing the results and some practical example on how it can influence rollout results can be viewed at http://www.extremegammon.com/SearchInterval.asp
Abstract
This study shows the effect of search interval on the precision of the analysis. It focuses only on 3-ply eXtreme Gammon analysis. It shows the difference between Normal search interval and analyzing all 32 top moves results in a loss of 0.0034 equity per game and a loss of 3 Elo points
