Heroes of backgammon

A classy player is one who is always willing to share his knowledge of the game. A classy player will not belittle a less skilled opponent and is willing to point out how such an opponent can improve his game. A classy player will shake hands after a loss and congratulate his opponent on his victory. A classy player will not whine after an unlucky sequence of rolls or an unfortunate loss. A classy player will not gloat after a victory. A classy player, though not required, might inform his opponent that he put your own man on the bar, point out an illegal move to his detriment, or left his clock running after dropping his dice. A classy player will not air personal attacks in a public forum (guilty). A classy player may play world class yet remain humble. Though there are quite a few people who meet these criteria, they are by no means the majority. Though some of us may fall short of all these qualifications, it is something worth striving for. If you come across one of these players, be sure to salute him or her.
