Rules of backgammon

I wish the rules of backgammon were more specific. For example, the rules state that the dice must be shaken vigorously. I've seen many players merely do a slight jiggle. The dice must be thrown from a discernible height. I've seen players practically dump the dice. Dice should roll freely. I've seen the dice hit the table and not move. When these rules are violated. am I able to make my opponent reroll after his 66 joker? Words like vigorously, discernible, and freely are wishy washy.
