I, too, liked this idea but didn't get any fans to cause a stir. I would do something like this as I don't see a format where my game would be a hindrance. (unlike slow players who would suffer at the sight of a speed event for eg) I like more events like this that draw out the best players. It's good for backgammon assuming the event is covered, it causes a stir, interest as it would be. It's also good for seeing who can perform, who really is the best?

To get Gus to do something like this it would help if big money is involved. Not intending to mean Gus is all about the money, he seemed to genuinely enjoy the game of backgammon and was hovering over his analyzed matches like anyone else, but his schedule is probably packed with everyone wanting him to do something having significant cash involved couldn't hurt sparking his interest.
