How to start and run a backgammon club

Not only do I love side pools, but I love multiple side pools even more. I learned this from the Dallas Club, but I've also done this myself. Have a $5 entry fee so anyone can afford to enter the tournament and play, but for those who like a little extra action, have a $10 side pool. And for those who want even more action, also have a $20 side pool. And for those who like even more action, have another side pool for $30. And players can enter as many of the side pools as they want. Generally speaking, only the better players will enter all the side pools so it's almost an automatic self-seeding process.
The pools put more money into the event which makes it more interesting for those who like action. Without those pools, those players might not even be interested in coming.
(In addition to the side pools, many of us have private side bets with each other as to who will go farther in the tournament...our own private side pool).
We have players who like to play in chouettes for $25 or $50 a point, and without the side pool they wouldn't "waste their time" even entering the tournament for $10 entry fee only.
