Seems vaguely familiar from Nack and Paul's book, but I couldn't swear to it.

Anyway, I split and spread (24/21 6/5). Prior to reading their book I would probably have unstacked from the midpoint. However, it's clear that 24/21 is itching to be played after the opponent makes the 5-point. Opponent is making a good prime but has no extra checkers in the zone so this is the perfect time to make an aggressive split. Spreading with 6/5 might look like it doesn't do much but if that's your reaction then the extra builder that 6/5 produces does more than you think. It certainly does more than inching up with 24/23 with the other back checker.
