Can you compare it to some other sports movement or explain how you grip the racket?

I don't know if my comparison is valid, because I never played badminton nor racquetball, but I played tennis a lot:

There was (and I think still is :) ) something that we called Western-grip (or Spanish-grip, IIRC), where you grab your racket like for a backhand, but at slightly bigger angle. (when you look at racket - it looks like / )

You play both forehand and backhand with that same grip. It produces more spin, especially when playing forehand. Some Spanish players used to play like that on clay.
