8/4* is automatic for me. Trying to protect a racing lead after an opening 65 is a bit like chasing your own tail. It's our second roll; nobody has made a point yet. I'm fighting for my 4pt. That settled, 13/10 looks like the natural follow-up. It unstacks our super-heavy midpoint, and puts builder right where we want it, compensating somewhat for our newly stripped 8pt. If White hits, we've got a good return 6 from the bar. If he hits and anchors, we've already started the best blocking point available. If he misses, we have a direct 6 to cover the point. In contrast, 24/21 doesn't do anything to improve the position and just gives White something to knock around if he isn't able to hit us on the 4pt. 8/4*/1* might be right, but it sure doesn't feel right. Suppose we make that play and are missed. What have we got? A slotted 1pt, a stacked 6pt, a stripped 8pt, a super-stacked midpoint, and a stranded checker. Not my play.

8/4* 13/10
