real backgammon 41 to play

Tough decision for me. First instinct is to hit. If I'm hit back then I have a good chance to pick up another checker. That seems like it's good, but it may not be as good as it seems at first glance. It's not that easy to blitz White even if the second checker is hit. It will take me some time to get the checkers on the 13- and 14-points into the fray, not to mention the loose blot that needs to extricate itself from the opponent's home board. White may get to anchor, and the holding game may not yield many more gammons than if Blue is just able to contain the single White checker, since a single checker is vulnerable to being closed out. And, of course, there's always the chance of things going poorly—getting hit and failing to hit back, and having trouble extricating the back checker while White builds his position and escapes the back checker.
I think I won't hit. Then the plausible choices look like 14/13 14/10 and 8/4 6/5. I think I prefer 14/13 14/10 since it aims another builder at the bar point. We don't really have to worry about White hitting with a 6-3.
