That was also my thinking yes. I'd still hit 6/1*, but if I am going to slot the bar and leave blots, then I'd want to slot the 9-point as well to build the 6 prime.

One thing that the slotting play has going for it - setting aside the question whether it is technically correct - is that it is easier to draw misplays after the bar slot.
