The OBJECTIVE of this puzzle is to build an eight-point prime from the 9pt to the 2pt (with the sixteen checkers available, as shown above) in FIVE rolls. The puzzle comes in six parts, but you are welcome to respond to just one (or some) of the parts.
Object position
PART 1: Blue calls his numbers and rolls five times in a row. In the position shown in the LEFT-hand diagram below, can he build the prime? (If so, how?)
PART 2: Same as part 1, except White occupies her starting points, as shown in the RIGHT-hand diagram. Blue still makes all the plays; now can he build the prime? (If so, how?)
Part 1: Unblocked position
Make eight-prime, 9pt to 2pt, five rolls
Part 2: Blocked position
Make eight-prime, 9pt to 2pt, five rolls
PART 3: Again, five rolls by Blue. In the position shown in the LEFT-hand diagram BELOW, can he build the prime? (If so, how?)
PART 4: Same as part 3, except White owns her starting points in the RIGHT-hand diagram below. Blue still makes all the plays; now can he build the prime? (If so, how?)
Part 3: Unblocked position
Make eight-prime, 9pt to 2pt, five rolls
Part 4: Blocked position
Make eight-prime, 9pt to 2pt, five rolls
PART 5: In the position shown BELOW, Blue and White alternate rolls and play five rolls each. Can they both build their eight-point primes from 9pt to 2pt? (If so, how?)
PART 6: Same as part 5, except that neither player is allowed to roll the same number twice in a row. Also, neither player is allowed to match the number the opponent just rolled if its double 6s or double 5s. Can both players build their eight-point primes? (If so, how?)
Parts 5 and 6: Interactive
Both sides make eight-prime, five rolls each
Good luck!
