I am not sure I would see the play, and after having seen it, I don't think I would play it. It just looks to anti-positional. I can see some merits, trying to force a tactical direction when the prime vs prime is not that great, and jacking up the gammon rates at both sides while down in the match. And there might be a cube efficiency thing going on - either Blue hits from the bar and loses his market, or white gets the advantage and may move towards a more efficient cube. But all this said, my play would be 23/21 9/8 OTB and also now.
