In Response To: Consolation Finals from Cyprus - Falafel v. Orlowski (Daniel Murphy)

I think we now see the real evidence for a claim / requirement that Falafel made a couple of days ago:

It is more important to study real BG problems (like Falafel does) than 2nd or 3rd roll openings.

Here, you make fun of Falafel how he misplays an easy opening roll. Despite his lack of opening knowledge he played an amazing 2.5 Snowie equivalent ER and a record breaking checker play ER of 2.3 (Error rate mEMG in GnuBG analysis).

I am completely in Falafel's camp when he recommends to study and analyze real problems where you throw away tons of equity (compared to tiny ammount in the 2nd roll). [This is just my point, I don't wanna start a new discussion of how important openings are. Every player will make his own decission how to spend his/her study time]
