I think the reason for the big difference between the RO's at -6/-7 and money has to do with the large difference in 4-cube gammon prices ATS vs. money. They're always 1/2 in money games but around .32 for the leader ATS (plus the trailer can recube to 8 which makes them worthless). The 2-cube gammon prices are fairly normal ATS so you'll sometimes be in a "too good and not good enough" situation ATS - something that can never happen in a money game. Since cube ownership is worth less than normal ATS, maybe that means that your checkers need to work harder than normal to win the game? And maybe that makes fighting for your 3-point more correct ATS?
