How much worse would you have to be to redouble this position?

Since few of us are worse than our opponents (a recent poll said, I'm sure, that 80% of all backgammon players are above average), in both positions, how much better would you have to be to pass? And in the second, how much better not to double?

Believe it or not, I have seen experienced players double the 4-3 position, and both not double and pass the 5-2 position.
