Well said, Daniel. I can't count the number of times I've had to go look up what "both" or "each" means, or the difference between "U" and "V." And half the time the person who used it used it incorrectly, which just steepens the learning curve and adds to the confusion. I find the basics of nactation ( D, P, R, S, $) very helpful for designating and categorizing opening play, and also very easy to remember. But beyond that I just don't use the rest of the vocabulary enough to retain it. I also recognize that the threshold between usefulness and cumbersomeness is different for everyone, so I make an effort to keep all types of jargon (OTB, ATS, PoH, TMP, etc.) to a minimum in my posts so they are accessible to newcomers.

I'll also echo your appreciation of Nack always adding a legend to his posts. His use of nactation and nacbracs seem very appropriate in the context of presenting data. (It would be a pain to have to type or read all that data in traditional form.) But having a legend close at hand is often the difference between me reading and learning from those posts and simply scanning/skipping them.
