In Response To: Opening 51 at GS 3-ply (David Rockwell)

Thanks for the RO, David. (Sorry not to post a response sooner; I took a break from the computer for a few days and am catching up since last night.)

First, as a reference, here is money data for opening 51:

Snowie .. [S $12 R43] 31k 5kR
GnuBG .. [S $9 R41] 92k 51kR
XG 3-ply [S $13] 46k

And here's opening 51 at GS:

GnuBG .. s[S $5.5 R27] 20k 5kR
XG 3-ply s[$ S2 R22] 5k

Legend: S = Split (24/23 13/8), $ = Slot (13/8 6/5), R = Run (24/18). Error sizes are in thousandths. The letter "s" before the brackets denotes gammon save; else assume money. After the brackets is the number of trials (in thousands, rounded down). For example, "s[$ S2 R22] 5k" means that at gammon save, $ is best, S is -.002 and R is -.022, after 5000+ trials.

The GnuBG GS data is a combination of s[S $4.8] 15k on the site and s[S $7.4 R27] 5k. The latter rollout was done with supremo and seed 1, so I suspect that you (David) were the roller.

Anyway, as we have seen to this point no bot is slottier than Gnu, so (like Neil, and you I suspect) I anticipate that XG's result at GS, when extended well past its mere 5k, will swing back the other way, in favor of S (Split).

Nack
