Supposition of the Day

I enjoy's Phil Simborg's "Position of the Day, but I think he may have missed the mark with today's analysis, which he begins by stating "The key thing here is to think about the cube." As far as I can tell the cube is mostly irrelevant in this position. 24/18 8/6 is simply the best move, regardless of where the cube is. It wins the most games and the most gammons with only a modest increase in gammon losses. For standard play, at DMP, at GG, and even at GS, 24/18 8/6 is best. It's simply too risky to linger on the 24pt and allow Black to finish you off at his leisure.
