There are many reasons the tournament rules should be changed to legal moves. While I could list 8, I will give you one of the major problems with the current rule. If your opponent rolls a 6-4 and plays it as a 5-4, you have the choice of allowing the illegal move or requiring him to correct it to the legal move. But you only can exercise that choice AFTER he has picked up his dice. Now, after he has picked up his dice, you cannot prove he rolled a 6-4, especially if the other player claimed he rolled a 5-4 and there are no spectators, or no spectators that can serve as reliable witnesses. That is just one of several MAJOR PROBLEMS with the current rule.

People who argue that legal moves will cause people to take shots and try to get away with them offer, to me, a false argument, as you can take just as many shots the other way if you happen to be a cheater.
