"The WORLD BACKGAMMON TOUR (WBGT) is a unique series of tournaments unifying 6 backgammon countries of 3 continents and a Grand Finale for 16 qualified players to compete for a minimum of 32,000 € (approximately 50,000 USD).

Initiated by Chiva Tafazzoli (World Backgammon Association - WBA) and Steen Gronbech (Danish Backgammon Federation - DBgF), the WBGT cooperates with the Japanese Backgammon League (JBL), the Swedish Backgammon Federation (SBGF), Backgammon in London, and is endorsed by various other national federations and associations as well as online gaming operators to bring together the biggest and strongest communities of the game."

Tournaments in 2010:

  • 22nd Nordic Open, Copenhagen, April
  • 2nd US Open, San Francisco, May
  • 30th Swedish Open, Stockholm, September
  • 2nd London Open, London, September
  • 16th Japan Open, Tokyo, October
  • 8th French Open, Paris, October
  • Finale -- Paris, November, immediately following the French Open
