iGammon plays a fun game and is pretty competitive, but it may not the strongest app out there. It has a pretty small NN. (I've always intended to put in a larger NN, but hardly anyone has asked for a stronger player and there has always been other things to work on.)

I've heard good things about Backgammon NJ, but I haven't tried it myself.
