Error rate or bot-adjudicated best play can assume that analysis uses rollouts. But the rgbg discussion entailed a suggestion that people playing in tournaments or online should compete for best error rate, instead of competing to win matches. Both live and online, if the bot arbiter were to act in a reasonable amount of time it could not be expected to resort to rigorous rollouts, so the participants would be at the mercy of the (your choice of) bot's evaluations. In posting the position to that thread, it struck me as absurd that one would attend a tournament, reach this position, and "win" by emulating a bot -- not doubling a double, or taking a drop.

I'm glad you found the position in itself interesting.

Your own position that Gnubg 2-ply does not double -- I would drop.
