The question was first posed in this thread.
Opening 52
How do you play opening 52 in Nackgammon?
The three bots are in basic agreement. The money rollouts are:
Snowie .. [Q Z10 S16 z19] 10k
GnuBG .. [Q Z5.3 z8.8 S15 R34 U57 C58] 62k 46kS 5k
XG 3-ply [Q z11 Z13 S24 R36 U50] 62k 31kR 15kAnd Gnu's rollout results at other scores are:
d[Q Z11 z16 S20 R20 U29] 20kQZ 13kS 10k
s[Z z9 Q12 S25 U36] 31k 10kS 5k
g[Z z4 S8 Q9 U32] 31k 20kQ 5kKey: Q = Quadruple split (24/22 23/18), Z = reverse split (23/21 13/8), z = alt reverse split (24/22 13/8), S = Split (23/18 13/11), R = Run (23/16), U = Up (23/21 23/18), C = Cross (23/18 8/6). Error sizes are in thousandths.
Before the brackets, d = dmp, s = (gammon) save, g = (gammon) go; else assume money. Number of trials ("k") is in thousands, rounded down. For example, "Q Z10 S16 z19] 10k" means that (for money) Q is best, Z is -.010, S is -.016 and z is -.019, after 10000+ trials.
In short, Q (Quadruple split, 24/22 23/18), chosen by David, aoleg1, and Christian, is best for money and dmp.
The "agg" (bot aggregate) can be summarized as [Q Z9 z12 S19 R35 U53 C58]. Those seven plays are diagrammed below, in order of (money) rollout strength.
Blue played Q (best)
Blue played Z (-.009), best at GS and GG
Blue played z (-.012)
Blue played S (-.019)
Blue played R (-.035)
Blue played U (-.053)
Blue played C (-.058)
Again, agg for NG opening 52 is: [Q Z9 z12 S19 R35 U53 C58]
