eXtreme Gammon Rollouts

Is it correct that you can not start a new game if rollouts are being performed?

What specification computer do you need to perform rollouts sufficiently quickly? My computer has a quad-core 2.4 GHz processor and 3Gb of RAM and I find rollouts to be way too slow for my liking if you use the default setting of 1296 games with variance reduction.
