Dice/Cheating,etc.

Can someone explain how people can cheat with dice in backgammon? There's 1 player in our chouette that I don't trust- and, at times, we have left the backgammon set with dice at his house for convenience. Can someone do something to the dice to manipulate them ? Additionally, after how many years of use would you say that precision dice are no longer "precision dice"? Thanks for some answers.
