Semantics of the term 'cube action'.

I am working on a markup language for backgammon and being neither a native speaker of English nor an experienced backgammon player, I have a question regarding 'cube action'. Does cube action always mean both the decision to double or not double and the take/pass/beaver decision viewed as one ? It seems like the general use is that 'cube action' is the whole of eg. double/take. In that case, what would be a good word for half a cube acion ? :o)
