Proposing That We Start Public Rating and Review of Tournaments and Directors

It requires a large investment of both time and money to attend a tournament. It makes sense that players should attend those tournaments that are well run and skip the others. How can a new player know in advance which tournaments are good and which are run poorly?

I am proposing a rating system. We encourage all participants to rate several aspects of each tournament on a scale of 1 to 10. Results will be made public. Players will know which tournaments to attend and which ones to avoid.

Maybe some directors will be forced to join the twenty-first century and finally make some changes. If some directors with low ratings quit running tournaments, maybe it would not be such a big loss to the USA backgammon community.
