The 4-ply queue is a list of positions where at least one of the three bots have a best-play margin within .010. All three margins are listed, so that the roller can choose positions for which plays are most likely to be tied (as most people probably will) or the roller can choose positions where bots disagree (also useful). David chose the latter.

It's on my list to reroll 43U-62 on GnuBG. As you say, corruption of the original file is certainly a possibility; OTOH, hitting plays are notorious for achieving disparate results.
