Funny BG Anecdote

An old friend of mine called today and related a funny story. Back in backgammon's heyday he played quite a number of fairly high stakes games. One night he won $15,000 from a guy -- but figured he'd never see him again. The next day the guy came into his office and gave him 17 gold coins, which my friend just put in his safety deposit box and never thought much more about them. He discovered them yesterday and cashed them in -- for $32,000. Now, obviously, with the appreciation of gold in the last thirty years, they weren't worth nearly the $15,000 debt at the time; however, not a bad payday with time.
