In Response To: Scrabble babble (Bob Koca)

Purportedly discovered by Arian Smit, the theoretically highest single-turn play scores 1780 with OSPD, or 1785 with SOWPODS (combined American and British Scrabble word sources), from a rack of ABEOPXZ, the primary word being OXYPHENBUTAZONE. The OSPD position is diagrammed below, with asterisks used as fillers for blank squares. (For proper vertical alignment, set it up on a board.)
