A Taste

The Backgammon Learning Center is open for business. We have teachers for all levels of play, from donkey to super donkey.

In the makings also are group lessons, would anyone here be interested in these? If so, does anyone have topics in mind they think would make a better group lesson than others?

Below is an example that Phil uses in one of his lessons that I think is a good example of a combination of 'simple' things every backgammon player should be able to do. Explain how you would approach this OtB, those named John O'Hagan need not apply (he helped answer a missing link on this already in an email). Things you could answer in your response:

  • Should I double?
  • Should my opponent take if doubled?
  • What is my opponent's take point?
  • What are my winning chances/my opponent's winning chances?
  • How do you know you're within' the doubling window?

is Player 2

score: 0
pip: 2
5 point match
pip: 4
score: 2

is Player 1
XGID=--B---------------------b-:1:1:1:00:2:0:0:5:10
on roll, cube action?
