Your personal advice: how to improve cube skills?

I know how "translating" game chances to any possible score works. Far away from every day perfection but I understand how it should be done.

My weakness is estimating % of winning and gammon chances.

Btw: I improved my checker play a lot but my cube actions still suck. Is this "normal" or does it show that something must be wrong with my way of studying?
