Opinions welcome on this idea for a new doubles format:

At the conclusion of the doubles final, the winning doubles team would have to play each other. It starts as a doubles tournament, but ONE person wins. Perhaps the losing team would also play each other for second place.

Some wrinkles include choosing the right partner (not necessarily the best one you can find), and having a lot of insight into your partner's game by the time you face off at the very end.
