Check out the excellent article on pages 6-7 of the outstanding publication Flint BackgammoNews, Nov-Dec 2010. The author tells us on page 7 that MCG is a "genius."
MCG himself tells us how cool is he is in http://www.bgonline.org/forums/webbbs_config.pl?noframes;read=61707
The "G" stands for "genius," the "C" stands for "Cool," so what does the "M" stand for? The British pronounce "British" with a "t" while Americans say "Bridish." Similarly, the British pronounce "Matt" with a "t" while Americans say "Madd."
Now we know that "MCG" stands for "Mad Cool Genius."
Incidentally, on page 6 of the same great article is a position that John O'Hagan got wrong, even though he used XG. Four different plays are correct at the following four different scores and/or different positions of the cube. (1) Black owns 2-cube at 0-0/13 (2) Center cube at 0-0/13 (3) Gammon Go (4) White needs 2, Black needs 1, post-Crawford, center cube.
If I am still alive 24 hours from now, I may post all four rollout results.
