Make the 1-point or not?

I always get dinged by the bots in this type of position when I don't make the 1-point.

My thinking is that it is too early to make the 1-point. I'd rather have the blot recirculated.

Is my idea how to play this position just wrong, or is it the bots who doesn't understand the position?
