Santa Fe Update

The tournament weekend kicked off with a nice party at my dad's house. In attendance were CJC, Ray, Greg Merriman, Bill Riles (with his lovely wife, Connie, whom I finally had the pleasure to meet), Alex Gerding, and one or two others from the ABT as well as 20 or so local players and a few sundry guests. A spirited game broke out where players faced off against one another in $20 1-pt matches, and the winner got to hold the table like pool.

Tomorrow the free doubles will be held--champagne and side pool to the winners. The main event kicks off on Friday of course. It looks like attendance is holding around 80--a few cancellations from the east coast have been replaced by western players.

Some guy named Paul Weaver backed out. I'm hoping he might be replaced by his more spirited and better-known cousin, Wally Peaver, who apparently won't deign to be seen in the same room as Paul.
